Basketball is one of the most popular and widely viewed sports in the world. It is a court game played by 5 persons in each playing team. The main objective is to have more number of basket shots as much as possible during the game. To play the game, it requires passing, running, dribbling, shooting the ball, and others. Through time, people have developed techniques in the play. Player’s defense and offense has improved a lot. Basketball is not only played by men but also by women of all ages. There are numbers of playing teams everywhere. Almost all high schools and colleges in U.S. have created their own team. Tournaments are regularly organized with several teams competing. Rules for men’s basketball apply also to women’s basketball game. The game is controlled by a referee, the umpire, and the table officials who are responsible for team scoring, time keeping, individual and team fouls recording, and others.
