It is a sport that involves attack and defense with the fists using padded gloves for professionals and headgear plus gloves for amateurs. Boxing bouts for amateurs are limited to 3 to 4 rounds, while in professional it runs up to 12 rounds. One round is restricted only to 3 minutes. Bouts are supervised by a referee to ensure that the boxers use only legal blows. A belt is worn over the torso considering it as the lower limit for punches. Repeated landing of lower blows are subject to penalty or disqualification. A bout in boxing can be won by knockout or by advantage points amassed by delivery of solid blows or punches. If a boxer is seriously injured, the referee can stop the fight giving the other side a win. He can also disqualify a fighter for violations of rule.
